Project Genesis: Time to LeaveThe crackling of electricity filled the air deep within Torvus Bog. The shots of electricity were fairly common, happening every few seconds. One might consider that a drone or some technology was going haywire, but this? This was a battle to survive. An injured grenchler was backed into a corner and desperately trying to keep its aggressor at bay. Unfortunately for the grenchler, the predatory metroid it was facing could - and did - easily dodge the attacks. The parasite couldn't get too close to the grenchler. It kept its back inaccessible by facing the metroid itself and shot attacks when it got too close. Occasionally it would snap its powerful jaws at the parasite, keeping it from latching on. The grenchler, however, was tired and without a shell on its back, it was far more vulnerable to dying.Once more it shot off an electrical burst. This served to annoy the metroid whose pincers clicked in response. The agitated noises of the parasite made it clear that its patience was running thin. It drew close but the grenchler went for the metroid, trying to swat it away with its horn. This hit the metroid back but it only flew at the grenchler again. This time the metroid flew up and around the next attempted hit. The grenchler's jaws snapped shut but it missed entirely as the metroid targeted its exposed back. There was a piercing screech from the larger creature as the metroid's pincers dug into the vulnerable red muscle on its back. Though it thrashed and struggled, the metroid was locked in place stealing the life energy it fed on. Only when the grenchler stopped struggling and fell to the ground did the metroid let go."That took you a while." A little girl's voice said from across the water. The metroid absorbed the energy and enlarged a bit in size. It screeched in response to what was said and swayed side to side."Don't give me that attitude." The voice said, "I expected you to eat faster than that."Across the water from the metroid sat a young girl with purple hair. She kicked her feet which dangled from a bridge structure she was seated upon and just watched the metroid. Her red eyes followed the metroid as it came over to her, but the matching gem on her forehead pulsed with energy. The girl reached out and the metroid pushed its membrane up against the palm of her hand. From there she gently caressed the creature and made an offhand remark about how much trouble it could be to feed. The peace that had just fallen in the area was soon enough disrupted. Salina had flown in from overhead and stopped just above the water of the bog. The water rippled in reaction to the anti-gravity systems where Salina's feet dangled above it. She was quick to remove her helmet and give the mysterious little girl her full attention."You and I are needed offworld." She said plainly, "I don't have information beyond this. My sister was very careful not to reveal too much.""Why am I needed? Unless this has to do with killing space pirates, I really don't want any part of it."Salina sighed, "I know. There's just some investigation going on after a raid attempt they repelled successfully. That's about all I know, Kristal."The child, now identified as Kristal, rolled her eyes and slowly got to her feet. Her pet metroid hovered around her as she did so, minding its own business entirely. Usually these creatures were hostile, but Kristal herself had the DNA of a powerful metroid mixed with her own, therefore she could placate them with ease."If they try to make me a test subject--""They won't. They know the stance my sister and I took on that. In any case, you need to get ready to go. I don't want the Federation calling me in Samus' place."Kristal gave a heavy sigh and slouched forward in defeat. She didn't want to leave but this was apparently something that needed to be done. The only solace she had in her decision to go with was the fact it might be a quick travel. As she corrected her posture, Kristal brushed her hair behind her ears and grabbed a hold of her metroid that had floated nearby her. She looked as displeased as ever, her red eyes half-lidded as she gave Salina her answer."I can leave like this. It's not like I have a fancy armor like you or anything."Salina raised a brow at the idea of Kristal keeping her pet with her."Shouldn't you leave the metroid here on Aether?""I can control it." Kristal reminded, "If I leave it here, it may not behave itself and cause trouble for the luminoth.""Fair point, but if they ask you to leave it in the ship when we get there...""I hate the idea of it, but fine, I accept the possibility. Anyway, I'll head to the Temple Grounds and you can get me from there."Salina put her helmet back on now, "Alright, meet you there. Get whatever else you want to take with you."There wasn't much that Kristal even owned besides that pet metroid of hers. Most everything she had before was robbed from her by the space pirates. Anything she had now was just basic living like food, water and shelter. Sometimes she didn't even want anything more than what she had. There was no giving her toys as she simply called it insulting and ignored it. Give her a book though and she'd read it as long as it wasn't fiction or "mindless reading" as she often called it. Giving her anything was difficult due to her maturity at such a young age.Salina watched as Kristal disappeared through one of the doors nearby before leaving as well. She flew up and over the landscape, watching the surroundings below as they passed. This was a bog now and draining certain areas was underway, but she could recall when it wasn't drowned. It used to be a forest that she'd spend her days running through up until she left the planet as a teenager. She could remember swinging and jumping through the branches of close enough trees. The memory of how the air used to smell also came back to her as she continued along. It was saddening to Salina that such days were gone. The bog was nothing like to forest it used to be. The water and heavy rainfall made sure of that. One couldn't move through the area as easily as before and the number of fauna and flora that were hostile had increased. Bloggs in the water and grenchlers on land made it a dangerous place to be. Anyone was lucky to trek through the area and remain unharmed... At least those equipped to defend themselves, anyway. Still, it hadn't ever been completely peaceful and that she knew from experience.Eventually Salina would leave the region and find her way to the Temple Grounds. The rocky canyon area was home to many different pathways that lead from other regions to the Great Temple high above. Sitting in one of the more open areas was a gunship of rustic and red coloration. In fact, it matched Salina's armor's colors pretty much perfectly. The sleek design of the ship mirrored the technology of the luminoth which pretty clearly told of its origins. The amber colored windscreen was the most notable feature, but not because of its colors. There was a little holographic form floating outside the ship around the windscreen. When Salina drew close enough and landed on the ground, the digital figure addressed her."Everything is good to go. Did you forget your passenger?""No, she insisted she travel by foot." Salina said as she disengaged her armor, leaving her standing in a black, red and orange bodysuit. The freelancer boarded her ship and was met again by the holographic form of her ship's AI."A terribly inefficient means of travel when we have somewhere to be.""Maybe, but the kid's going to be cooped up so might as well let her stretch her legs."Salina made her way to the pilot's seat which she slid into with ease. She'd done this several times before to the point it was almost second nature. Instead of starting the engines though, she simply waited for Kristal. It'd be a little bit given her flight ability was faster than the girl's walking speed. Besides, she had to go through several doors down winding paths and Salina hadn't need to do any of that."You look as though you're ready to call off this meeting.""Thanks for noticing, Y-Cia." Salina told the AI, "I guess... I'm just not ready for this meeting. I don't know what to expect. ...Also thanks for letting me know you monitored the transmission.""It's my purpose to keep you safe so why wouldn't I?"Salina shook her head, "Let's just be quiet for a bit. Double check the systems and make sure there will be no issues. I don't need to get stuck in Federation Space.""Yes, ma'am."With that response given, Y-Cia's hologram flickered out of existence and she went to work doing as told.
